Fly fishing as a sport or recreation is popular among fishing enthusiasts. The trout is the largest in the char family. Trout are usually caught in lakes and rivers. These fish do not thrive in warm waters and instead go to colder places in order to survive.
The United States has a lot of fly fishing rivers. Some of these famous for their big trouts are the Big Horn in Montana, AU Sable in Michigan, and Green in Utah. The San Juan River in New Mexico is one of the best fly fishing rivers in the world. This river has a large population of trout. The usual trout's size caught in the San Juan River measures 20 inches. Other fish like cut bows, rainbows and brown trout measure about 17 inches. Flies or tippets or worms can be used as baits while fishing.
The river is slow flowing and wide. It extends through the Navajo Dam. The tail water is crystal clear. The cold tail water is fed by the snow coming from the San Juan Mountains. The tail water at the river averages 45oF or 7oC throughout the year. This is really a perfect place for trout to live.
The Madison River in Montana is also a favorite spot for fly fishing. The water in this river runs steadily at the same speed. It makes a good choice for the novice and hobbyists. Browns are usually caught during the autumn.
The Madison River is also called the â50 mile Rifle.â The river flows for 50 miles in a steady line. Fish commonly caught in the river weighs around 6 pounds. Different conditions of the river, water behavior and the weather make it more challenging for fly fishing.

Fly Fishing for pond trout?
So Ive been fly fishing this pond/ lake that has stocked rainbows in it. Earlier in the year I had success using San Juan worm imitations and Eggs imitations under and indicator. Seemed to work well and all of a sudden I haven't been able to get a hook up.
The trout have been rising and feeding on what imagine to be small midges. Ive tried many different dry flies and haven't had much luck either. The water is fairly dirty so i imagine the fish have a hard time locating my fly. Ive gone back to the egg and san juan imitations and still nothing.
Anybody have any experience with something similar to this and have and suggestions??

I can't give you a sure-fire solution, but I can maybe help.
In clouded and stained water, color really makes a big difference. Depending on the position of the sun, either a very bright (white, chartreuse) or very dark (black, purple) color is needed.
Matching the hatch is indeed a good strategy, but this can sometimes fail us. In the case of trout taking food from the surface, the insects must often rest there for hours before a fish will slurp them up. Surfacing for food is inherently more risky for fish than is taking food from below the surface of the water, and even fish that are feeding voraciously from the surface will often prefer a larger underwater presentation, as this allows the fish to get more food with less energy expended and less risk.
Nymph patterns that are compatible with emerging midges are often a good option, as are small freshwater shrimp patterns, san juan worms, and streamer patterns--in that order, from my experience. Fished a few inches below the surface, these flies offer a tempting alternative to hungry trout, and aren't so far below the action as to go unnoticed. Drowning a dry fly is also a good option.
I've found that fishing unweighted wet (or drowned dry) flies on a floating line with no strike indicator produces my best results in these conditions. The strike indicator can often be a distraction for the fish, and if you're vigilant, you can produce just as many fish or more without one if you're fishing your fly close to the surface. As an added bonus, your casts will travel farther and more accurately without the extra drag from the strike indicator. This can aid in sneaking up on wary fish, or in targeting isolated fish without spooking them. Make certain to keep any slack in the line to a bare minimum, and fish the tip of your rod close to or just under the surface of the water for maximum sensitivity.
I'm not entirely clear if the fish you're after are spooking, or if they're simply ignoring your offerings. In the case of the former, foregoing the strike indicator will certainly help. Fishing a lighter weight of line will minimize line slap on the water, and a longer and/or thinner leader will make your presentation more stealthy. I find that length is often more a factor than thickness, however--I'm yet to be convinced that a fish spooked by one leader will remain calm in the presence of a thinner one. Also, too thin a leader will give your fly an unnatural descent, although this shouldn't be too much of a concern when fishing wet flies.
