There are many ways that have been suggested or are available to get a great catch. One of these methods is the use of fishing flies. These are artificial lures designed to mimic the trout fish's natural prey. Trout fishing flies have virtually revolutionized the fishing game as they have effectively substituted natural or live bait.
One of the most important factors that one should consider is when choosing trout fishing flies is the fact that the weight of the fishing line used should be relatively small in mass. This is an essential fact. The weight of the fishing line is important in the sense that the lighter the line, the more advantageous it becomes to fish.
This is supported with the fact that when the line is heavier, it tends to sink below the water and sometimes hide under the vegetation that usually grows under water.
This has limited many anglers from getting a good catch in their fishing expeditions.
There are basically two broad types of trout fishing flies available to anglers. The first category is the dry flies which has its own advantages and usage. Dry flies are designed to float on the surface of the water and may be utilized for both upstream and downstream fishing. Wet flies on the other hand are designed to submerge below the water surface.
The key principle when considering fishing flies is just how attractive will the fly be to the fish. Any fishing fly needs to mimic the fish's prey in every way. That is, from the color, design, behavior, and characteristics. If this is not put into consideration, trout fish are an extremely intelligent type of fish and will ignore your bait.
It has been noted that a good number of fish eat bugs. The use of flies that simulate bugs is of a great use as it tends to reflect on the particular meal that most fish like to eat. Bugs are available nearly all through the year and are consumed by every type of trout fish.
There are a couple of nymphs that can be used to facilitate the harvesting of trout in a water body. There is indeed a good variety. The most common nymphs that are used are the head, ear, tail, and bait head nymph.
Trout fish tend to like these types of nymphs and when anglers use this type of nymph a full guarantee is given for getting a good catch.
The type of hook is also important when choosing the right fishing flies. There is always the 'default' temptation to go with the single hooks, but in truth, the double or triple hooks are more effective. Unless you are fishing only for fun, as in catch-and-release, single hooks don't yield the best results.

what nymph/wet fly should i tie next?
i fish for trout mainly but do go after smallies a couple times a year but im looking for another good wet fly or nymph to tie master and add to my box. right now i tie phesant tails , hairs ears, San Juan Worms, brassies, egg patterns, these stretch tube scud things, some caddis larvae things, and fresh water shrimpy flys. lol what next?
im thinking prince nymph
i do tie streamers i tie buggers, cats whiskers, some steelhead flys and soon the mickey finn when i get some extra $$
Sounds like you've got quite a few flies under your belt. The Prince Nymph is a great fly, if a little complicated -- not one I often tie for myself. The one fly that is conspicuously missing from your list is the Woolly Bugger, which as we have discussed here many times, is one of the most versatile and productive fly patterns in existence.
You also don't have any streamers in your list -- those could keep you busy for months and will catch you fish, too.

These flies are a little different than the stuff you've been tying lately, but they'll give your fly box a little more depth when it comes to the type of forage you can imitate.
You should also think about stonefly and salmonfly nymphs at some point. The Prince Nymph and Pheasant Tail can be used to imitate these larva, but sometimes a more accurate imitation will be more productive. They can be very simple and impressionistic, like the Goldenstone:
